Let us recite what History teaches
Journals - Stormcrow
Written by Caribou Slim
Just as a sapless tree will split and decay, so an inflexible force will meet defeat. The hard and mighty lie beneath the ground, while the tender and weak dance on the breeze above.

All bets aside now
The marvelous daring of failure
Lincoln had the heart of a Maori warrior

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

There is an echo in here
impressed Ms. Stein would be impressed
pretending she's standing dry on the Dover cliffs
watching waves of time crash against history
Even as she ripples into smooth water

Lincoln had the heart of a Maori warrior
gangling ugly angel
a lesson in failure
and failure
and failure

and then he held two halves of the country in his hands
Even as he rippled into smooth water
on the wake of a bullet

And my children are not slaves

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

There is an echo in
Hear

singing Ms. Stein sings
holds us dry in the moment

apart from history
where we can watch its

Wonderous!
Mobius! Waltz!

History!

What! A beautiful!
Bedtime! Story!

Aside from that lie, remember
you had the heart of a Maori Warrior
the marvelous daring of failure
And the world is flowing through your hands

We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

There is an echo in here
its you, isn't it?
Your soul is loud
it's been singing you forever
birthing you in dry moments
down through the ages
leaving its wake
ripples
echo
ripples
you

All bets aside now

For we wrestle
not against flesh
and blood

but against principalities

against powers
against the rulers of the darkness of this world
against spiritual wickedness in the high places

Against the Shadowplay Of Our Own MortalityTM

lying Ms. Stein lies
makes us think we're dry in wet moments
implies a separation of power
tells you how small
your tiny echo
is
in this symphony of history
you gangling
ugly
angel

Lincoln had the heart of a Maori warrior
the marvelous daring of failure
Put all bets aside
held two halves of the country in his hands

And you,
my children,
are not slaves

That's a knock out.
Picking up my taped up fingers :
they were on the floor.
That's a K.O.
When you're on you're back on :
I always knew you punched like that.
That's a knock out.

Aww... now ya made me blush - high praise coming from you. But danke

I'm moving out of a "composting" phase in the writing, and it looks things are sprouting a bit finally. Hoping to bring a bit more here soon - may have some music in a bit, too. There's a bit of that musical influence in the cadence/rhythm/repetition in this guy.

Oh yeah, for those of you not familiar with the Stein piece I'm referencing, here ya go.

Blush if you must. It's obvious that composting is wise. I'm shifting dirt, myself, and appreciate your potted plant aside the rooted trees.

And thanks for the direct reference to Gertrude Stein. That's a fun read and an even better listen. I'm not sure I'd heard her read before. Her "How to Write," that little purple book, is the only thing I've seen of hers. The nonsensical has a place in these strange and apparently complexly normal days, and hearing the reading makes it clear(ER) what she was going for.

I mean not to praise you, Lord knows we've perfected the back slap over the years. More so, I mean to say that that poem knocks me out. Great work.

Your mention of "more to follow" has been noted and has not gone unnoticed by my notes I've noted.
